Not a story- but a little "Life-Hack" if you will. For when you don't know what to buy someone.

I've made a lot of these for so many different occasions. Birthdays, baby showers, bridal showers, bachelorette parties, Father's day, the list goes on. It's actually my favorite "go-to gift" when I don't know what to buy someone.
My dad's birthday is about 3 days before Father's day. So, unfortunately for him, I usually get him a combined gift for both. And I'm the most boring gift giver. My husband has actually banned me from getting my dad a t-shirt or pair of flip-flops for at least the next 2 years. I know, it's terrible.
So, to start off, figure out their favorite things. For my dad, I chose a mini bottle of is favorite summer liquor, his favorite candies, 2 giftcards to his favorite local lunch spots, his favorite beef jerky, and tons of scratch off lottery tickets.
Of course, you could take all of that stuff and throw it into a gift bag, but then it's not gonna be the centerpiece at the party!
Supplies:
Skewer sticks or dowel rods
Hot Glue
A basket or container of some sort,
Styrofoam
Cellophane, candy, confetti, or something else to cover the Styrofoam
Whatever gifts you bought

I used a plastic basket that I already had but wasn't being used and I cut the styrofoam down to size. (I tend to save styrofoam when I open a box for this reason. This time I was out, so I used an old Styrofoam cooler.)
Hot glue your gifts to the skewer sticks or dowel rods. You may need to use more than one, depending on the weight and size of the gift.
Once the glue has cooled, stick it down into your styrofoam.

You are going to want to make sure you start low in the front and go high in the back. You also want something small like bite size candy bars to randomly place around the basket.
Once you get everything in to place, throw a bow on the front (if you want), cover the Styrofoam with your decoration of choice and BOOM. You just gave the prettiest gift at the party!
This is a little project that's kind of a life hack. People really appreciate that you took the time to get some of their favorite things AND that you added some creativity in it to make it extra pretty! I always need new ideas! What would you want in a gift basket?
