So tired of using the canned stuff! This is soo much better and easy! We mostly use it for Abby's favorite- Tuna Noodle Casserole.
I like mine really stuffed with mushrooms. But you can go lighter on the mushroom if you'd like. Also, I am wanted mine thick. If you want yours thinner, use milk instead of 1/2 and half.
Use immediately, or you can put in a glass jar in the freezer to save for later if you'd like (just make sure you leave some room for expansion. Move to the fridge to thaw out the day before use and shake to mix back up any separation that may occur.

Yields about 3 cups
1 Tbsp. butter
4 cups of chopped mushroom
3/4 cups of chicken broth
1/4 cup of flour
1/2 cup of half & half
1/4 tsp. of Garlic powder
1/2 tsp of Onion powder
salt & pepper to taste
Melt the butter and sauté the mushrooms. Meanwhile, whisk the flour and half & half in a small bowl. Mix in the broth and simmer. Add the half & half mixture and mix until thickened- about 1 minute.
